BRS-3000T ultralight gas canister stove

$14 USD BRS-3000T stove
The BRS-3000T ultralight stove is available for $14.14 USD delivered on Aliexpress.

  • Stowed: 5 x 3 x 3.5cm, 25g

Pros
  • Nothing more compact or ultralight for the price
  • Flame control knob for heat control
  • ~4:30 minutes to boil 1L water
  • Good solo, emergency or backup stove

Cons
  • ~ 9g gas used for a 1L boil. Stoves like the Jetboil Mightymo use 5g per boil but cost and weigh more
  • Flame not well spread - heats up pot supports
  • Not very steady with a full pot balanced on top. A gas canister stand helps
  • Somewhat loud
  • No piezo starter - requires matches or a lighter
  • Inefficient without a windscreen (e.g. this or a foldable windscreen kit, foil/aluminium flashing, a cut up windshield sun protector). Be mindful the gas canister does not overheat however
  • Supports do not suit large or heavy pots (750ml pot at most)
  • No regulator means that small amounts of gas is lost when attaching/detaching stove from canister
  • May leak through the flame control knob. Some evidence that you need to dry it fully before storing
  • Weight on stove bears down upon gas canister threads
  • Poor range of temperature adjustment, mostly useful for boiling water
  • Quality control concerns - might be better off with the (more expensive) Soto Amicus or Soto Windmaster
