This windscreen is made from interlocking stainless steel panels.
Some benefits:
- Use gas stoves in strong
winds (which otherwise might prevent them starting)
- Use the lower simmer settings of a gas stove without worry the flame will blow out
- Use less fuel and achieve faster boils due to more efficient airflow and heat reflected back onto the pot
- Modular design can expand to accommodates larger pots
- Use with alcohol, wood or esbit stoves also
Specifications:
- Stainless steel panels, each 30 x 10.5cm (25.4g)
- Use 2 panels for pot diameter 18cm or less
- Use 3 panels for pot diameter 28cm or less
- Ventilation and gas hose inlet holes at the base of each panel
- Interlocking tab + socket on each panel
Pros
- Interlocking tabs are easy and quick to assemble
- More stable and durable than a foil windscreen
- Includes a storage roll
Cons
- Doesn't suit canister mounted stoves (will reflect heat back onto the canister)
- Might be better stored flat than rolled, or stored within a pot
- Titanium 'foil' or DIY aluminium windscreens are lighter
- Tabs could break over time?
